North of the Baptistery, under the former parsonage of San Giovanni (today OPA Center), lie the remains of a fullonica that was active between the mid II- IV century A.D., formed of basins made of cocciopesto served by a long, narrow ramp, perhaps tied to a terrace for drying textiles. Thousands of ceramic artifacts were recuperated throughout the excavations, including about twenty amphoras, glass, architectural elements, bronze objects and many coins. A considerable number of sewing needles and pins, including semi-finished products, lead to the speculation that alongside the dye-works existed a factory for the crafting of bone.
